Leonard I. Eckhaus’s Memoirs, ‘Lessons I’ve Learned Along the Way’: An Ultimate Inspirational Read for Striving Entrepreneurs
As one arrives at the top of a long and exciting life, it bodes well to record a touch of it for progenies. That is the thing that Eckhaus has done in his five-star rated book Lessons I’ve Learned Along the Way, the Memoirs of Leonard I. Eckhaus. Published in 2018, this book serves as an insight into the career and family life of Leonard I. Eckhaus, the founder of AFCOM, the leading association in the world for Data Center Managers.
Leonard I. Eckhaus also formed The Data Center Institute, a think tank of computer industry corporate and data center visionaries and produced and published the award-winning magazine, DCM.
“This book is my endeavor to record the story of my life and what I have learned over these seventy-five years,” says Leonard I. Eckhaus.
Beginning with a concise history of his folks and grandparents who were European Jews settled in New York City, Eckhaus depicts experiencing childhood in Newburgh, New York, during the 1950s; spending time with his group of buddies, the Botonos; and meeting his high school sweetheart who later became his life partner, Linda. Leonard explains that his motivation to write this was to reflect upon his own journey, starting as a boy from the streets of New York to becoming a trusted name in the realm of computers and innovation.
After college, Eckhaus was fascinated by the relatively new field of computers, which eventually led him to work at IBM and later establishing industry ventures like AFCOM and the Data Center Institute, the driving names in the market. Today, Eckhaus is praised as a thought leader with his insights on the data center field being published by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, Bloomberg News, and more.
As the years went by, age did not slow him down. The computer aficionado branched out later in life authoring two books and co-founding a record label and producing a CD that earned two Grammy nominations in 2018. This very achievement serves as motivation for people to realize that success can be achieved at any age.
With this book, Eckhaus reflects on the significance of a supporting partner in assisting an entrepreneur to achieve his purposes. He extends gratitude to his wife for being a persistent supporter even in the hard times and being there for him right from the start. He now adores spending quality time with the love of his life, traveling throughout the world and enjoying ballet, philharmonic and Broadway show performances. Eckhaus’ elucidation is cordial and direct: “Linda and I had consistently delighted in live theater. Once I could manage the cost of it, we purchased season tickets to an assortment of performances at various brilliant venues.” Eckhaus and his wife Linda are Capstone contributors at Las Vegas’ Smith Center for the Performing Arts. They also support the Las Vegas Opera, Nevada Ballet Theater, the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the local Chamber Music Society.
Eckhaus’ autobiography reflects both his achievements and disappointments. Eckhaus started this book as an asset for his own relatives, including his grandchildren and those yet unborn so they would have more of an idea of their family history.
“There are plenty of subtleties contained in these pages. Even though I recorded my life in this book mainly for my family, I hope this book also serves as a motivation for those who seek it,” says Eckhaus.
Leonard I. Eckhaus reflects throughout his book that life is not simply a bed of roses. Yet, with headstrong determination and interest, anyone can achieve tremendous success. The condition is to learn from mistakes and never let the circumstances control you. “It should be you who controls the situation, not the other way around. Take charge of your life, hold yourself responsible for the losses and bounce back stronger, unafraid to face even more potential failure, until you succeed,” he says.
“For only those who desire to pursue success, will achieve it,” adds Eckhaus.
